+++ WHEN SOUNDS MEET - JUST AS PEOPLE +++

BREAKIN' BARS - 35 Sound Tracks bumping through the dance floor

What is this project about?

BREAKIN' BARS is a Web Music Project completely based on Freesounds made by hundrets of sound creators all over the world - i.e., really true "Web Music" or "Freesound Music". Each of the pieces comes with a certain set of rhythmical pattern that are broken out from riffs of various kinds of dance music. The result may be a suggestion as a new way to think about "Break dance" (see also squarefree music).

"Sound Tracks"?

Although you might find a sense of melody in the pieces, voices appear broken as the rhythmical background while using rather noisy or other experimental sound material. That is the reason that the pieces are called "Sound Tracks" and not "Songs".

Freesound meets YouTube

But that’s not all. The way "sounds meet - just as people" at this site is true not only for Freesounds. It is also true for people that share their experiences through videos at a community platform such as YouTube.

Now, there are different reasons to meet - as many as people are different from each other. So what is this Freesound/YouTube story about?

BREAKIN’ BARS is a meeting of dancers and dance lovers, especially of those who like to experience new moves and to rather break with too many dance conventions. And this is exactly the point where new musical excitement of many Freesounders meet the new physical and artistic experiences of not less dancers of all kinds all over the world.

In the language of YouTube, there are two great elements of communication that allow to facilitate this kind of meeting: AudioSwap and Video Response. BREAKIN’ BARS uses its own combination of it: It creates an individual AudioSwap and loads it up AS a Video Response.
